Sony Xperia XZ review | Full Specification Review from Android Pioneers | Hands on Review.

At last Sony has flag-shipped their X series.

Sony Xperia XZ will give you the great feeling of a best smartphone, but you will not see an extreme difference here.

Good:

  • Latest refined build of design.
  • Improvements of camera.
  • Bringing back waterproofing.

Bad:

  • Much similar with usual Sony Xperia versions.
  • Incompatible with Wireless charging.
  • Full HD display.

There were many debates and rumors about the Sony Xperia X, whether it will be a flagship version or not, has revealed at last-it wasn’t, but now we have the Xperia XZ here. This latest flagship version of Sony Xperia X series has acquired the collection of highest specifications that we have seen earlier, but inside a perfectly build new packaging.

Sony has decided to cleanse their lasting boxy shape of the device which they have followed during seven generations since the release of Xperia Z in 2013, and this time it has led the process to the Xperia XZ. Sony has provided three color options consist of deep Blue, Black and Silver.  However this design will be one of the perfectly looking devices the Japanese manufacturer has ever released.

He sharp and boxy edges of the previous Xperia Z versions have removed, refurbished with more rounded and curvy ones to make Xperia XZ comfortable when it is in the hand. Reasonably it would be a minor change, but it will assist the user with more comfort. This was a big issue that Sony should have sorted out before and is a big achievement for the latest smartphone of the company.

Not only the refurbished look, but also the feel when you have it in the hand. Metal back cover of the Sony Xperia XZ is built from a new material named ALKALEIDO, which doesn’t feel slippery when the device is on your hands. It gives the device a prime finish and big advancement from Xperia Z5 which is made up with glass back build, although the back side of latest Xperia XZ does still catch finger-prints much easily.

Top and bottom surfaces of Sony Xperia XZ are totally flat, this is another change that Sony has made with the latest XZ and you are allowed to stand the device up on a flat surface easily. The flat built looks like an adaptation of Obi MV1, but implemented much better with the XZ.

The fingerprint sensor is embedded in the power button on the side panel of the device, this positioning will be really helpful and make it easy to hit when you are interacting with the device from one hand, but it will be little bit hard to hit the key when the device is on a flat table.

Surprisingly the most significant thing is the inclusion of waterproofing compatibility with IP68 standard, which is similar to the ratings of the Xperia Z5 and Samsung Galaxy S7. So you may jump into the pool while you are capturing a selfie. This feature was the terribly missing thing with the early Xperia X series.

Screen and Camera.

You may feel down to know Sony XZ has rooted you inside a Full HD screen, especially as XZ is the superior smartphone from the firm-however still it’s a great display. Some of the people were expecting that the Xperia XZ to pass the factory with a 4K display similar to the Z5 Premium, whatsoever it was a good trick to save your device’s battery by sticking in to 1080p. The screen size is 5.2 inches with 424PPI of pixel density, while vibrant, would not be similar to the QHD technology of HTC 10 or Galaxy S7 Edge. 4K resolution is not essential a 2K one will be really nice to see.

Primary camera of Xperia XZ doesn’t have any difference with the previous versions, but several basic improvements should be implemented to make it much more enjoyable and user friendly.

The same 23 mega pixel sensor as the Xperia X can be seen in XZ, with the same technical specifications as earlier, but the XZ’s one made up with a laser autofocus.

Functioning along with the hybrid autofocusing technology will make it even easier to focus your snaps robustly. The primary camera sensor also has the ability of white balance technology to assist with enhancing the color and improving the details of photographs. Furthermore XZ is the first smartphone that uses 5 axis stabilization technology to avoid blurring the videos.
The secondary camera sensor is 13MP and allows you o capture detailed selfies. It looks like the same front camera as the Xperia X.

Performance and Battery.

When considering the performance it seems cynical with the specs of Xperia X. Sony Xperia XZ consist of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with 3GB of RAM, so we felt the device as fast as we expect a flagship smartphone to be. Are you hoping to play Pokemon Go with Xperia XZ? Yes indeed, you can play it and any other game on this device.

Internal storage capacity of XZ is 32GB and the external can be upgraded up to 256GB with a microSD card. But still we don’t have any information to get the confirmation about the microSD, but Sony manufacturer usually adds a microSD to their designs.

When considering about charging, still there’s no any sign about wireless charging, but Xperia XZ comes with a 2900mAh battery and it charge at different speeds with respect to your usual charging schedules. Assume that you are charging your device overnight and unplug your charger at 7 A.M in the morning, the device will get charged up to 90% of the battery as soon as possible then it will pause the charging just before the 7 A.M and begin to charge the rest until 7 A.M.

As they haven’t implemented wireless charging, you will use the USB-C port which is placed at the bottom of the device. This is the first time that Sony has embedded USB-C in to their design, however the USB-C will be really convenient as you are allowed to plug your cable either way around.
This charging method is confirmed to bring out an industrial standard in the near future, so it’s better for Sony preparing for the trending things rather than being in the old age.

Unfortunately, the Xperia XZ will not be powered with AndroidNougat and it will come out from the factory with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. But in the near future-soon after the official release of Xperia XZ, Sony will bring out the latest Android Nougat update for this device.
